What to ask each company

Is your company currently registered under the relevant SEAI scheme?
Can you show references for similar roofs and electrical installations?
What panel, inverter and battery make and exact model are you supplying?
What is the annual kWh prediction, and what assumptions support it?
What is included in writing: scaffold, access, commissioning and BER?
Which warranties cover panels, inverter, labour and roof penetration?

Warning signs

Be cautious with high-pressure deadlines, savings guarantees without modelling, claims that approval can be obtained after work starts, refusal to supply a contract, unusually large deposits without safeguards, and unclear after-sales service.

SEAI says it does not approve, guarantee or warranty companies or their work. Verify directly and compare several written quotations.

SEAI company registration Verify the current company record directly in SEAI's live scheme register. Installer credentials Confirm who will install the system and the relevant installer registration. Independent quotations Seek at least four quotes, as recommended by SEAI. Exact equipment details Obtain panel, inverter and battery models, sizes and exclusions. Expected solar yield Check annual kWh estimate, roof orientation and shading assumptions. References and insurance Ask for similar past projects, cover details and an aftercare contact. Contract and warranties Examine deposits, payment stages, workmanship, panels and roof liability. Approval and handover Confirm grant approval before work, grid paperwork, commissioning and BER.
